The purpose of york is U, the Student
Alumni Program, is to establish in students a lifelong connection to
York. We exist to make York a comfortable, clean, safe, and spirited
place. As the Student Alumni Program, we believe that York is a source
of pride and a place that students will want to come back to, year
after year, long after they graduate. We organize events and programs
to help students have the time of their lives at York.
Since 2002, our listserv has grown to over 10,500 students and over 350
active volunteers. Every member participates in one or more of
the following areas: event planning, volunteer coordination,
environmental issues, safety and security issues, marketing, finances,
fundraising, web, design, public speaking, public relations, community
outreach, charities, contest and prize programs and more....
We have elected student leaders consisting of 7 student Directors who are
all paid an honoraria for their hard work. We also have the services
of an advisor who work full time and several Work/Study students who work
part-time in the York Alumni Office. york is U student
leaders
meet weekly, while the wider york is U team meets twice a month
at General Meetings.
